The Guang’ao Fort Ruins are a Shantou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Guang’ao Fort Ruins are located in Guang’ao Community, Guang’ao Subdistrict, Haojiang District. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, they are classified as an ancient site.

On October 10, 2014, the Guang’ao Fort Ruins were designated as a Shantou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Guang’ao Subdistrict: Located in the southeastern part of Dahu Island, Guang’ao Subdistrict covers an area of approximately 26.7 square kilometers. It administers seven neighborhood committees: Guang’ao, Donghu, Sanliao, Daitou, Xitou, Hedu, and Da, with a total population of 31,652, including 10,093 agricultural residents.

Boasting unique geographical advantages, the subdistrict enjoys convenient land and water transportation. The Bonded Zone and Guangda Avenue run through the area, and the upcoming Guangnan Avenue will traverse the lower five districts. It also features a 2.5 million-ton-capacity deep-water port at Guang’ao, capable of handling 570,000 tons of cargo annually, and a 23-kilometer-long golden coastline.
