Jifayouguan Folk Courtyard

Covering an area of 40 acres, the Jifayouguan Folk Courtyard consists of two main parts: the "Garden within the Garden" and the "Indoor Performance & Exhibition." The "Garden within the Garden" uses sculptures and interactive activities to depict traditional northern Chinese rural manual labor scenes such as horse-drawn plowing, sowing, harvesting, pulling a large saw, stonemasonry, and drawing water from a well with a pulley. The "Indoor Performance & Exhibition" demonstrates handicrafts such as spinning, weaving, mending, net-making, blacksmithing, carpentry, operating a millstone, making noodles, and pickling vegetables, along with displays of family decorations and daily tools like old-style tables, chairs, stools, tableware, and porcelain. These exhibits present agricultural product processing and other traditional manual labor scenes, allowing visitors to experience the joy of hands-on participation. A large number of authentic production and household items from the 1950s and 1960s are also on display.

The walls of the Folk Courtyard feature 24 murals depicting filial piety stories from various dynasties of the Chinese nation, such as "Tasting Herbal Soup" and "Lying on Ice to Catch a Carp," serving as typical examples for educating young people to inherit civilization, embrace new values, uphold science, and promote development.

The Folk Courtyard brings together key scenes of traditional agricultural production and processing in northern China’s rural areas, creating a unique atmosphere that transports visitors back in time. Here, guests can observe traditional rural life and production, appreciate the long-standing and rustic folk culture of the countryside, and be inspired to reflect on their roots, strive for progress, build on the past, innovate for the future, and create a harmonious and happy life while enjoying the experience.
