Shanhaiguan Lotus Lake Park

Lotus Lake Park is located next to the ancient city of Shanhaiguan in Shanhaiguan District. The park serves as a leisure and entertainment venue for both locals and visitors. It features landscaped gardens, a lake, covered walkways, arched bridges, shaded areas, rockeries, viewing platforms, fitness facilities, and a large screen square projection.

The first phase of the park was completed in 1993, covering an area of 89,500 square meters. It included four arched bridges, one curved bridge, four pavilion corridors, and one boat dock, achieving basic open-access conditions. However, 13,000 square meters of dilapidated buildings within the park severely impacted the landscape of the Great Wall and the ancient fortress, as well as the overall image of the old town. To promote the protection and development of the ancient city, the Shanhaiguan District decided to initiate the second-phase renovation project of Lotus Lake Park.

After redesign and planning, the second phase of Lotus Lake Park covers a total area of over 110 acres, including 63.3 acres of green space, resulting in a post-construction green coverage rate of 80%. The second phase adopts a natural design approach and integrates new humanistic concepts. While maintaining the park’s original style, it emphasizes dynamic and varied spatial experiences. Alongside enhancing functionality, greater attention has been given to meeting the general public's needs. The open and spacious Lotus Lake Square on the park’s northern side further highlights the majestic presence of the Great Wall, fortress walls, and watchtowers. The park’s landscape features reflect the cultural essence of Shanhaiguan’s ancient town, allowing visitors to better appreciate the area’s cultural charm and ecological atmosphere.

By Bus: In Qinhuangdao City, take bus routes 25 or Special Line 2 and get off at Shanhaiguan Train Station; alternatively, take bus routes 13 or 33 and get off at the Tianxia Diyi Guan (First Pass Under Heaven) scenic area.

By Car: Take the Beijing-Shenyang Expressway, exit at the Qinhuangdao East exit. After exiting the highway, continue straight onto the road leading to the national highway. Then turn left onto the east-west oriented national highway; turning left will take you in the direction of Shanhaiguan.
