Qinhuangdao Glass Museum

The Qinhuangdao City Glass Museum was established in December 2010 as a museum themed around glass. The entire museum is built on the site of the former Yaohua Glass Factory, which was first constructed in 1922. The architectural ruins are a protected cultural heritage site of Hebei Province. The museum is located at No. 44 Wenhua Road, Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City, covering a total area of 11.25 acres with a building area of 2,822 square meters.

The museum has collected more than 1,700 exhibits, featuring a rich variety of items with clear historical lineage. These include not only the origins of China's glass culture but also the evolution of glass craftsmanship throughout the dynasties, as well as the production state during the industry’s most prosperous era. The collection features glass ornaments reflecting folk culture, glass art masterpieces embodying contemporary artistry, and imported treasures showcasing exotic styles from abroad, all of which fully demonstrate the significant role of glass in daily life and its unique cultural and artistic charm.

The museum consists of four parts: the exhibition area, the heritage park, a theme restaurant, and office spaces. It serves as a public cultural facility integrating functions such as collection, research, education, exhibition, and leisure. The main theme of the museum’s exhibitions is “Light Condensed from Heaven and Earth,” divided into four display areas: “Ancient Glass and Its Development,” “The Cradle of China’s Glass Industry,” “China’s Contemporary Glass Industry,” and “The Brilliant and Magical World of Glass.”
