Yangshan Temple

Yangshan Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province.

Yangshan Temple is located in Wujixi Old Street. Legend has it that in ancient times, Emperor Yan led Marquis Yangshan, Marquis Lingshan, and Marquis Hongshan to manage the Mi River. Due to overwork, the four of them passed away one after another and were buried on the picturesque banks of the Mi River, which is why the river is also called the "Sacred Water River." Marquis Yangshan was buried in what is now Wuxi Town, Hengdong County. Later generations, in gratitude for his benevolence, built Yangshan Temple to worship him, honoring him as the Ancient Spirit Marquis. The temple enjoys flourishing incense offerings, and the current hall was restored during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty.
