In the Paiwan language of Taimali, it is called “Ja.Bau.Li.” According to one Paiwan legend in Taimali, the name comes from seeing the sun rise from the eastern sea, meaning “the place where the sun rises.” Welcoming the first ray of dawn in the Land of the Rising Sun has become one of the iconic New Year’s events. Facilities in the park have become increasingly complete, including walking paths, rest pavilions, even beach volleyball courts, plus a Dawn Memorial Wall and a Dawn Monument.
