Pingtung County's First Pet Park Opens on the 29th – Wavy Boardwalk Trains Pets' Stamina

Pingtung County’s first pet park is finally set to open. To provide pet owners and their furry companions with a dedicated space of their own,the Pingtung County Government has established a pet park under the Gaoping Bridge on the left bank of the Gaoping River, featuring a variety of facilities for pets to enjoy,with the goal of creating a truly pet-friendly city and offering a safe playground for animals.

This pet park enjoys convenient transportation, is surrounded by no residential areas, and has a large area, allowing for the installation of numerous facilities, including a “painted concrete pipe” for hide-and-seek games between owners and pets; a “jumping tire rack” to help pets train their jumping skills; and a “wavy boardwalk” designed to enhance pets’ foot strength. Nearby, there are also a slow-pitch softball field, a soccer field, and a basketball court for public leisure and sports activities.

Here, the focus is mainly on dog exercise, and there are some usage restrictions for pet owners, such asthe pet park being divided into areas for large and small dogs,to prevent small dogs from being attacked and injured by larger ones.The park provides dog waste bags, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.Pets must also be kept on leashes while in the park to avoid fights due to confrontations.

The Pingtung County Government promises that the pet park will become an important hub for various pet gatherings, such as diverse pet adoption exhibitions or other canine family meetups. This will not only attract participation from different groups but also enable the park to fully serve its intended function.

An opening event will be held on Saturday, April 29th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM,featuring lion and dragon dances, a jazz-samba band, face-changing performances, group parrot flying displays, singing acts, free rabies vaccinations, health check-ups, pet grooming, exotic animal exhibitions, and more. There will also be a “five-challenge game” where owners and their pets can win prizes — all are welcome to bring their furry friends along.
