Hongcheng Hot Springs

Hongcheng Hot Springs is located about 3 kilometers west of Qidong County. Surrounded by mountains and crisscrossed fields behind the springs, the water temperature remains around 20 degrees Celsius all year round. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, making it suitable for winter bathing. The spring water contains a variety of trace elements beneficial for treating skin diseases and promoting health, and is free from harmful substances such as sulfur.

Hongcheng Hot Springs was first discovered around the fourth year of the Song Qing era (1198) or earlier. A verse inscribed on the rock by the Ming Dynasty scholar Zhang Yanyuan from Chang’an reads: “Self-contentedly clear, nourishing the village soil; no envy for the bustling Huaqing on the market road.”

The spring emerges from a rocky cave at the mouth of a cliff, gathering into a small pool of about 20 square meters. With a flow rate of 0.3 cubic meters per second, the spring water remains clear to the bottom, unaffected by the rainy season, and flows continuously all year round.
