Shuifu Pavilion

Shuifu Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.

Shuifu Pavilion, also known as Huangwen Pavilion, is located 500 meters southwest of Taohua River Longevity Palace. Legend has it that this was where Huang Dongyuan and Huang Daozhen attained enlightenment. The original pavilion was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and was rebuilt during the Wanli era. It was a three-story classical brick-and-wood structure where General Yangsi was once worshipped. The original pavilion was destroyed in 1961. In recent years, it has been rebuilt, covering an area of 1,740 square meters and standing 36.3 meters tall, as a double-eaved hip-and-gable four-story pavilion. Shuifu Pavilion majestically crowns the summit of Huangwen Mountain, where cliffs are sheer and precipices tower thousands of feet high. The splendid pavilion glows with golden finials, crimson glazed tiles, and hollowed roof ornaments. Facing Nangao Pavilion to the south, it stands opposite the “Fishing Village at Sunset,” one of the Eight Views of Xiaoxiang, across the river. Overlooking Taohua River below, facing Baima in front, gazing east toward Dongting Lake, and west toward Hutou, it offers views of drifting timber rafts and fishermen’s songs at dusk, set against the vast expanse of river and sky, exuding a majestic and profound aura. It is hailed as the “Foremost Pavilion of Xiaoxiang.”
