Deshan Scenic Area

Deshan, located in the southeastern part of Changde City and about 7 km from the city center, is renowned for its beautiful scenery. It has been honored as the “Fifty-third Blessed Land of China” and has gradually been developed into a tourist destination. The area boasts numerous historical sites and scenic spots, including the Qianming Temple, an ancient temple built in the early Tang Dynasty; the South City, constructed during the Southern Song Dynasty; the Deshan Stone Pagoda, created in the Ming Dynasty; as well as the Langjiang Academy, Deshan Academy, and Yizhi Academy, all successively built during the Qing Dynasty.

Today, Deshan has developed into an industrial base for the Changde region. Since 1958, over thirty enterprises have been established here, including a cotton textile mill, pharmaceutical factory, frozen food processing plant, paper mill, glass factory, alcohol distillery, electric motor factory, instrument factory, and textile machinery plant. The once-famous scenic spots have now reemerged with a fresh new look. In this sense, Deshan remains truly worthy of being called the “Fifty-third Blessed Land of China”!
