Su Yu Park

Su Yu Park is a classic red tourism destination.

Su Yu Park is located in the southern suburbs of Huitong County, Hunan Province, and was built in 1985 under the direction of the Huitong County Party Committee and County Government. The park features commemorative facilities such as the Monument to Comrade Su Yu and the Memorial Hall of Comrade Su Yu. In 1986, Zhang Aiping inscribed the name of the monument, which stands 11.2 meters tall, with the main body measuring 7.6 meters, symbolizing General Su Yu’s age at death of 76. The surrounding area of the monument’s body also features inscriptions by figures such as Zhang Zhen and Mao Zhiyong. At the center of the monument’s base lies an urn containing some of General Su Yu’s ashes. In September 1991, the then President of China personally inscribed the name of the Memorial Hall of Comrade Su Yu. The Memorial Hall enjoys a prime location with convenient transportation and communication. The Zhiliu Railway runs through the city, and National Highway 209 passes right in front of the hall. Lush green mountains and clear waters enhance the scenery outside the hall, making it a key attraction for visitors.

The park houses the Su Yu Memorial Hall, the Su Yu Monument, the He Qiong Martyrs’ Memorial Pavilion, the Long March Memorial Pavilion, the Liberation Pavilion, and other leisure and recreational facilities. The entire park is nestled against a mountain and by a river, covered in dense trees, with monuments and pavilions complementing one another. It boasts enchanting scenery, fresh air, and an elegant environment, showcasing typical garden aesthetics and ethnic architectural style. It is an ideal destination for vacation and leisure. Visitors can stroll along winding paths to enjoy tranquility or climb to higher points for panoramic views of the mountainous city of Huitong.
