Taiwan’s Baking & Gourmet Exhibition kicks off today, with nougat becoming the new focus of souvenir choices

The Taiwan Baking & Gourmet Exhibition and Taipei Pineapple Cake Culture Festival opened on July 11 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3. In addition to pineapple cakes, this year also features a second representative souvenir—nougat. A special competition was held for this purpose. Wu Guande, chairman of the Taipei Pastry & Biscuit Industry Association, along with representatives from Burkina Faso, Palau, Thailand, Canada, and other countries stationed in Taiwan, used locally distinctive ingredients from their respective countries to create nougats that best represent their national flavors during the competition.
