Taiwan Railways' Chaozhou Station Upgraded ! 2,000 Sets of Commemorative Tickets Go on Sale on the 19th

Taiwan Railways' Chaozhou Station will be upgraded starting September 1, replacing Kaohsiung Station as the origin and terminus of the Taiwan Railways Western Trunk Line, which will shorten commuting times between Chaozhou and Kaohsiung as well as Xinzuoying Stations. A "Celebrating Chaozhou Station's Promotion to a First-Class Station" commemorative ticket set will also be released at the celebration event on the 19th.

Following the inauguration of the elevated station in Pingtung and the opening of the double-track electrified railway between Pingtung and Chaozhou Station, Chaozhou Station will replace Kaohsiung Station as the origin and terminus of the Taiwan Railways Western Trunk Line. Starting September 1, Chaozhou Station will be upgraded from its current third-class status to a first-class station. Taiwan Railways stated that in the future, the number of services between Chaozhou and Kaohsiung as well as Zuoying Stations will be significantly increased, while commuting times across the Pingtung and Kaohsiung regions will be shortened, thereby boosting the economic and tourism development of the entire Pingtung area.

To celebrate the upgrade of Chaozhou Station, an upgrade ceremony will be held at Chaozhou Station on the morning of September 19. In addition to inviting local performance groups to attend, a "Celebrating Chaozhou Station's Promotion to a First-Class Station" commemorative ticket set will also be released. The commemorative ticket set features Chaozhou Station as the main design element and includes a brief history of the station. The set includes one cover, one designated interval name-card format ticket, one name-card format platform ticket, and one thin-paper platform ticket.

The most unique item among them is the designated interval name-card format ticket, one of the earlier ticket types issued by Taiwan Railways, considered vintage, and currently not available at stations or in past commemorative tickets, making it highly valuable for commemoration and collection.A total of 2,000 sets will be sold on-site, priced at NT$120 per set, with a limit of five sets per person, and sales will end once they are sold out. Commemorative stamps will also be available on-site for purchasers to stamp as a keepsake.
