Typhoon Dujuan has brought heavy rain, and local police and firefighters received a report this afternoon that around 17 people from three hiking groups, including the Yilan University Mountaineering Club, were on a trek through the Daba North Ridge. They are currently stranded near a workers' hut close to the Sacred Tree Grove in Zhenxibu due to rapidly rising river water. After being informed while at the National Police Agency’s typhoon response command center, Police Commissioner Chen Kuo-en immediately instructed the Hsinchu County Police Bureau to dispatch Yutakang Police Station Chief Yu Shih-pin along with one police officer, in coordination with six firefighters from the Jianshi Fire Department, to rush to the scene for rescue operations, which are ongoing.
