over 40 species of plants and more than 400 ancient and famous trees. It is home to 3 species of Class I nationally protected animals and 15 species of Class II nationally protected animals. The area features 340 hectares of well-preserved and densely distributed natural secondary forests, as well as large areas of mixed-species forests, making it an ideal destination for people to reconnect with nature and enjoy leisure and wellness.

The park features seven unique rock formations, three ancient springs and wells, ten forest streams with a total stream length of 22 kilometers, and five reservoirs and lakes, covering a total water area of 71 hectares (including the Tankou Reservoir at 54 hectares).

The area also boasts rich cultural landscapes. Zhongpo was once a key military route during the Western Han Dynasty, and today it still preserves two sets of ancient trenches that witnessed historical battles. A historic post road runs through the park from north to south. Additionally, there are five heritage sites or ruins: Zhongpo Temple, Zhongpo Nunnery, Zhongpo Taoist Temple, Bodhi Temple, and Qiu Family Ancestral Hall. These blend seamlessly with the surrounding rural vernacular architecture, reflecting distinct ancient and local cultural characteristics.

The park now has well-developed basic facilities and services. Five reasonably distributed and fully equipped folk vacation villages have been built, covering a construction area of over 4,000 square meters, capable of accommodating over 300 guests for lodging and meals, as well as providing leisure space for tens of thousands. Three television broadcasting and microwave communication towers have been erected. There are also over 3,000 acres of research or economic forests, a 500-acre rare tree species gene bank, and the most comprehensive butterfly specimen museum in Hunan Province, which has been listed as a key science and education base in Huaihua City. Roads connect the park to the urban area and lead directly to the highest peak. Supporting infrastructure such as water, electricity, communications, and commercial services is also increasingly complete. The park currently receives over 200,000 visitors per year, with numbers on the rise.
