Zhongpo Scenic Area, a provincial-level scenic spot, has a planned area of 160,000 square kilometers, with a core scenic zone of 32,000 square kilometers. It is divided into seven major scenic zones—Zhonghui Summit Viewing Area, Zhonghu Folk Culture Area, Zhongtai Agricultural Culture Area, Zhongyu Science & Education Area, Zhongling Wildlife Observation Area, Zhongxiu Camping & Fishing Area, Zhongyun Sports Activity Area—and one functional management area.

Zhongpo Mountain, known as the lung of Huaihua City, along with Liangshan, forms the city’s left and right lungs. It purifies the urban air for the people of Huaihua and offers greenery to the developing city, shielding residents from the harm of PM2.5.

Located in the northwestern suburbs of Huaihua City, Zhongpo Scenic Area encompasses eight major scenic zones: Zhonghui, Zhonghu, Zhongyu, Zhongtai, Zhongling, Zhongxiu, Zhongyun, and Zhongqing. Covering a total area of 160,000 square kilometers, the area boasts magnificent and beautiful landscapes. Highlights include the sunrise over Zhongpo, the serene lake at Tan Kou, the peculiar pines of Niutouzhai, the bamboo sea of Majialong, the azaleas of Bianpo, and the vast expanse of original secondary Masson pine forests throughout the region—all of which leave visitors in awe. The site also preserves numerous historical remains such as the ancient Majialong post road, the Niutouzhai ancient battlefield, and the Muxi Taoist temple, all of which showcase, to varying degrees, the ancient and mysterious "Panhu legacy" of the "Five Creeks barbarians." This scenic area is truly a rare urban fringe destination in western Hunan.
