Tianlong Gorge Scenic Area – a national geopark, a canyon that was impassable until May 2005. The Tianlong Gorge Scenic Area is located in Alatown, west of the ancient city of Fenghuang, situated between the Ancient Huangsigui Town and the Southern Great Wall of China. It is renowned for its precipitousness, uniqueness, ruggedness, beauty, and serenity. Towering peaks rise on both sides, with high mountains and dangerous waters, dense vegetation, and a gorge as narrow as 2 meters in the tightest section, making the terrain extremely treacherous. The valley boasts a multitude of stunning sights: a waterfall over a hundred meters high cascades straight down into the Dragon Pool; there’s the thunderous Thunder God Pool, the breathtaking spectacle of the Thousand-Strand Spring of the Heavenly Dragon, the 300-meter-high cliff face known as Eagle Grief Cliff, the uniquely scenic One-Line Sky, secluded small waterfalls in the valley, and the murmuring charm of the tranquil stream. The unparalleled landscapes of Tianlong Gorge seem crafted by the hands of gods, standing alone in the Miao territory, and are hailed as the “Number One Perilous Gorge of the Miao Region.”
