Nanhua Mountain Divine Phoenix Cultural Scenic Area is China’s first comprehensive cultural experience destination dedicated to the Phoenix. Themed around 7,800 years of Chinese Phoenix culture, it showcases ingeniously created ancient architecture and themed scenes—including pavilions, terraces, halls, towers, corridors, columns, bridges, and buildings—all imbued with Phoenix cultural elements. It distills the eighteen divine attributes of the sacred Phoenix bird, presenting them densely, vividly, and richly to showcase the profound Phoenix culture of the Chinese nation. This is China’s first comprehensive Phoenix cultural experience scenic area. The site includes over ten themed attractions such as the Phoenix Bamboo Sea, "The Phoenix Has Arrived", Phoenix Destiny Pavilion, Phoenix-Luring Bridge, Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix, Ninety-Nine Divine Steps, Divine Phoenix Hall, Phoenix Throne, Eighteen Divine Attribute Totem Poles, Phoenix Chronicle, Sweet Spring Terrace, Five Virtues Gate, Phoenix Tales, Liberation Terrace, Wind-Riding Plankwalk, and Birdsong Forest. At the heart of the scenic area lies the sacred Divine Phoenix Hall, which, according to prophecies recorded in the Classic of Mountains and Seas, enshrines the ancient Chinese Phoenix deity for worshippers to admire and pay tribute. It also recreates the Phoenix totem worship ceremony themed “Where it appears, peace reigns across the land,” promoting its harmonious, auspicious symbolism where all who see it find tranquility. On the Phoenix Terrace, one can view the Phoenix. This terrace offers the best panoramic view of the Fenghuang Ancient Town. The scenic spots below, including the Yushi Mountain House, Tuojiang Jumping Rocks, Rainbow Bridge, and Ten Thousand People Tower, are all within sight. The story of Xiao Shi and Nong Yu, a celestial couple who played flutes to summon the Phoenix—a tale beloved by many—is the inspiration behind the name of the suspension bridge, the Phoenix-Luring Bridge. The divine Phoenix bird is said to perch only on phoenix trees; thus, dozens of phoenix trees stand tall beside the bridge, symbolizing the act of planting such trees to attract the Phoenix. The bridge spans over 80 meters, and beneath it lie dense groves of slender bamboo, creating a serene and mysterious atmosphere. Walking across the bridge, one can absorb the vitality of nature and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Surrounded by ancient trees, visitors feel as if they are strolling through a painting, with mist and clouds enveloping the scene, creating an otherworldly, fairy-tale-like experience.
