The Tian Family Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Fenghuang County.

The Tian Family Ancestral Hall is located on the opposite bank of the Tuojiang River, outside the ancient city wall of Fenghuang. Facing the river, it stands across from the ancient town. Built in the 17th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1837), the hall covers an area of over 2,000 square meters and is the largest ancestral hall in Fenghuang County. Its main structures include the main gate, front hall, theater stage, main hall, wing towers, wing rooms, and connecting corridors. Unlike typical ancestral hall architecture, the Tian Family Ancestral Hall has several distinctive features: First, in terms of layout, the main gate is not positioned along the central axis but rather beside it, intersecting at a right angle. Upon entering the mountain gate and passing through the front hall, you approach the main axis of the ancestral hall from the side. Second, in architectural form, while most ancestral halls feature two-story corridor-style wing rooms with windows and doors on both sides of the stage, the Tian Family Ancestral Hall has two fully open pavilion-style towers surrounded by beautiful balustrades. The main hall also features an unusually wide front porch, a design rarely seen elsewhere. The unique design of the wing rooms and the open porch in front of the main hall was clearly intended to offer greater convenience for the audience watching performances—truly an ingenious touch.
