North Tangshan Qinglong Mountain Scenic Area

Qinglong Mountain is one of the three renowned mountains alongside Jieshi Mountain and Panshan. Historically known as Qingliang Mountain and also called Jielong Ridge, it is located about 25 kilometers northwest of Luan County’s new urban district in Tangshan, roughly 40 kilometers from central Tangshan. It borders both Guye District and Fengrun District of Tangshan. The scenic area boasts convenient transportation with well-connected access roads. It lies just 15 kilometers south of National Highway 205, adjoins National Highway 102 to the north, and is only two kilometers away from the Zhenzizhen exit of the Beijing–Shenyang Expressway. The Beijing–Shanhaiguan Railway, Beijing–Qinhuangdao Railway, and the under-construction Tianjin–Qinhuangdao Passenger Dedicated Line all run through the region. The main peak of Qinglong Mountain, Niangniangding, stands at an elevation of 439 meters and is part of the Yan Mountain range. The mountain stretches from north to south, featuring nested peaks and layered ranges with numerous summits spread across and encircling the area. It extends 15 kilometers from north to south and 20 kilometers from east to west, covering a total area of 300 square kilometers. The scenic area is also noted for its over 1,700 acres of land growing more than 30 varieties of medicinal plants, which is one of its distinctive features.

The Qinglong Mountain Scenic Area is rich in ancient architectural ruins. In addition to the Sanxiao Palace and Yangu Temple, various dynasties have built structures such as the Wanghai Tower, Luohan Cave, Longxing Temple, Yunju Temple, Xinglong Temple Stage, Forest of Stone Tablets, Mountain God Temple, Earth God Temple, God of Wealth Temple, Huangshan Academy, and Wanghai Hongya Temple. There are also naturally formed landscapes including the Reclining Buddha, Elephant Mountain, and the Yin-Yang Twin Wells. Each site and natural feature is associated with beautiful myths, legends, and historical tales, embodying a wealth of folklore and religious culture.

After nearly five years of development focusing on cultural and natural resources, Qinglong Mountain has become a national center for ethnic and folk culture experiences, an ecological tourism and religious destination in eastern Hebei, a health and wellness retreat base in the region, a living museum of local medicinal plants, a natural oxygen bar, a leisure destination for natural scenery, as well as a model example of rural development in northern China.
