Nansunzhuang Township is located in the western part of Fengnan District, bordering Ninghe County of Tianjin. The township administers 28 administrative villages, with a population of 22,000, covering a total area of 93 square kilometers and 70,000 mu of arable land. In 2005, the township achieved a total agricultural output value of 370 million yuan and agricultural export earnings of 1.4 million US dollars.

Nansunzhuang Township is a traditional pepper-producing area. To accelerate farmers’ income growth, the township has focused on field-grown peppers as a key industry to boost prosperity. It has significantly strengthened agricultural infrastructure, accelerated the introduction of new varieties and technologies, and promoted industrialized operations, achieving notable results. Over 15 million yuan has been invested in large-scale improvement of medium- and low-yield farmland, enhancing agricultural production conditions. The "high-quality seed program" has been vigorously implemented, introducing more than 10 new high-yield, high-spice, and disease-resistant varieties such as Tianying Pepper, Wangdu Pepper, Yidu Pepper, and Jiucunhong, accelerating the renewal of traditional pepper varieties. The adoption rate of high-quality pepper seeds in the township exceeds 95%. Currently, the peppers produced here are mainly sold to Tianjin, Beijing, and the northeastern regions. The leading variety, Tianying Pepper, is highly favored by merchants from Japan and South Korea for its deep color, high spiciness, and pure quality, resulting in strong market demand. In 2005, the township had 13,000 mu under pepper cultivation, producing 2,700 tons of dried peppers and 4,500 tons of fresh peppers.

To extend the pepper industry chain and enhance industrialized operations, the township has established a number of agriculture-led enterprises and agricultural product wholesale bases with strong linkage and radiating effects, including Tangshan Huacheng Food Co., Ltd. and the Nansunzhuang Township Pepper Wholesale Market. Tangshan Huacheng Food Co., Ltd. produces 800 tons of pepper powder and 500 tons of dried peppers annually, generating an output value of over 50 million yuan and supporting over 5,000 mu of base cultivation. The township has also actively developed a network of brokers, with 300 pepper sales brokers handling over 3,000 tons of pepper sales per year.

Nansunzhuang Township: a township under the jurisdiction of Fengnan City. Established in 1954, it was reorganized as a commune in 1961 and restored as a township in 1984. Located in the northwest of the city, it is 9 kilometers from the municipal government and borders Ninghe County of Tianjin to the west.
