Long History: Kaiping, one of the six districts under the jurisdiction of Tangshan City, got its name in the first year of the Yongle era during the Ming Dynasty when the Kaiping Central Garrison was established here. It has a history of 600 years. Covering an area of 251.3 square kilometers with a population of 260,000, it has long been an important hub for commodity distribution, often referred to as the “bottomless city of Kaiping,” and is honored as the foremost of the four great towns of eastern Beijing.

Convenient Transportation: Kaiping Town is just 4 kilometers from downtown Tangshan, 118 kilometers southwest of Tianjin, and 164 kilometers northwest of Beijing. It is within one hour’s drive from both Qinhuangdao and the Eastern Qing Tombs. The Beijing–Harbin Railway and National Highway 205 run through the area, while three expressways—the Beijing–Shenyang, Tangshan–Tianjin, and Tangshan–Port—intersect here, featuring two exits. Within the shopping district, Bus Routes 8 and 42 provide direct access to Tangshan Railway Station.

Kaiping Ancient Art and Culture Street: To further boost the local economy and enliven the market, the Kaiping District Committee and District Government decided in August 2004 to establish the Ancient Art and Culture Street on Beida Street in Kaiping Wenzhou Shopping Mall. The street mainly deals in antiques, craft gifts, second-hand goods, and more. Currently, 50 well-established antique merchants from across the country have officially set up shops here, forming a sizable daily market for ancient art.
