Fengrun Jingyuan

Established in 1999, located south of Cao Xueqin West Road and east of Yucailu, with Phase I on the east side and Phase II on the west side. The area is surrounded by relatively concentrated residential communities. The park was designed by the Tangshan Landscape Architecture Design Institute, and its main concept is to commemorate Cao Xueqin and incorporate scenes from *Dream of the Red Chamber*, integrating various techniques of classical Chinese garden design. Phase I construction began in 1999 and was completed in May 2000. In front of the open and airy activity square of Phase I stands a sculpture of Cao Xueqin, surrounded by antique-style structures — including small bridges, stone corridors, and management offices. A rockery was built on the western side of Phase I, with a pavilion atop it, offering a distant view that evokes the feeling of "reaching the summit and overlooking all the other peaks." Phase II was constructed in 2003 and completed in October of the same year. The overall layout of the park follows a naturalistic style and integrates seamlessly with Phase I.

Water features are primarily used to divide spaces and organize the landscape, allowing visitors strolling along the shores or wandering through the paths to experience a constantly changing scenery. Small pavilions and stone corridors have been built on the eastern and western sides of the water bodies to provide resting spots for visitors. Plant arrangement is a key highlight of the park. In selecting plants, emphasis was placed on species with strong ornamental value and profound symbolism, while also integrating landscapes inspired by *Dream of the Red Chamber*—for example, using crabapple trees (*Malus spectabilis*) to define spaces and highlight the "Crabapple Poetry Society," and arranging early bamboo with rocks to evoke the imagery of "Bamboo of the Concubine." Large deciduous trees such as phoenix trees and silk trees were planted for shade, while water lilies were added to enrich the summer scenery. Jingyuan covers a total area of 19,749.88 square meters, including 11,789.52 square meters of green space, 5,455.6 square meters of pathways and squares, and 2,354.76 square meters of water surface. The greenery includes 13 plant species, with 97 evergreen trees, 115 deciduous trees, 470 flowering shrubs, 1,610 bamboo plants, and 450 pots of water lilies. Overall, Jingyuan has significantly enhanced the landscape of the residential area, providing residents with a leisure space.
