Xiangyang Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall

The Xiangyang Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Xiangyang Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall is located at the foot of Yanghu Mountain, on the southeast side of the Martyrs' Cemetery Square. The memorial hall features a two-story full-frame arc structure with a total construction area of 3,230 square meters. Through a large number of precious photographs, artifacts, light boxes, and electric charts, the memorial hall displays the course of the Battle of Xiangfan Liberation. It is reported that the memorial hall is open to the public free of charge every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Battle of Xiangfan broke out on July 2, 1948, lasted 14 days, and claimed the lives of 719 soldiers. It was praised by Commander Zhu De as a "small but exemplary battle." On July 16, Xiangfan was liberated.

To commemorate the martyrs and strengthen patriotic education among young people, starting in 2001, the Xiangfan city government invested over 6.5 million yuan to build the Xiangfan Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, which has a construction area of more than 3,000 square meters. From April this year, an additional 4.5 million yuan was invested in its exhibition arrangement.

The Xiangyang Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall displays over 120 photographs, more than 300,000 words of textual materials, and over 20 cultural relics, comprehensively showcasing the historical background and course of the Battle of Xiangfan.
