Wolong Mountain Scenic Area

Wolong Mountain Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Wolong Mountain, also known as Suolong Mountain, is located in Niangniangzhuang Township, about 20 kilometers southeast of Zunhua City, Hebei Province. Planning and construction began in 1998. It opened to the public in 2000. In 2004, an investment of 3.5 million yuan was made to complete projects such as road development and temple construction. It has now been approved as a national 2A-level scenic area. The mountain winds and twists, stretching from west to east, and is formed by a dragon head, two dragon breasts, and a dragon ridge, making up a coiled dragon — hence the name Wolong Mountain (Crouching Dragon Mountain).

Wolong Mountain has a forest coverage rate of 80%, with tens of millions of pine and cypress trees covering the mountain and dressing it in green. The tall welcoming pines, with branches reaching toward the sky, seem to wave to visitors, while the rustling sounds of the pines cheer them on. In the mountain, there are many strange rocks exposed in the wild — some stand like blades, others lie like tigers; some resemble eagles spreading their wings, some look like a golden rooster standing alone, some appear as wild boars foraging, and others seem like elephants strolling through the woods... With thousands of postures and diverse shapes. Below the Dragon Breast Peak lies the Dragon Breast Spring, a naturally formed wonder spring, three feet square and three feet deep. Approaching the Dragon Breast Spring, you can hear the tinkling of the spring water, see its crystal-clear bottom, and taste its refreshing water. The Dragon Breast Spring has four remarkable characteristics: it does not dry up during prolonged droughts in spring; it does not overflow despite heavy rains in summer; it remains clear and unclouded in the crisp autumn air; and it does not freeze in the cold winter.

With Wolong Mountain as the main feature, the touring route extends 4 kilometers: halls and temples are built along the mountain, arranged in a well-spaced and harmonious layout; multiple natural attractions are exquisitely formed; the scenic area is lush with trees and filled with birdsong and floral fragrance. The mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Guanyin Hall, the viewing platform, the kilometer-long cypress corridor, the Bixia Palace, the Medicine King Hall, the God of Wealth Hall, the Qiankun Pavilion, the Dragon King Hall, the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Hall, the Monument to Anti-Japanese Martyrs, the Qiankun Sacred Hall, and the Great Buddha’s Hall of Tenglong Temple, among other facilities and structures, are distributed across several mountaintops. The mountains are densely covered with pine and cypress, offering spectacular scenery. Historically known as the "Imperial Garden of the Goddess," it is a famous sacred site of religious culture. Since 1998, this scenic area has held at least two large-scale tourism and sightseeing events each year, attracting unprecedented crowds, with over 100,000 visitors (from both within and outside the city) received each time.
