Gangbei Village

Gangbei Village Gangbei Village is located 7.5 kilometers southwest of Luan County’s urban area and currently belongs to Gumu Town. It was the birthplace where over 100,000 people in eastern Hebei first raised the flag of resistance against Japanese aggression. Today, a solemn and dignified “50th Anniversary Monument of the Gangbei Uprising” stands at the entrance of the village. The monument is 11 meters tall with a base 2.5 meters high. The front steps are divided into four sections, with one, nine, three, and eight steps per section respectively, while the left and right side steps have seven and six steps respectively, symbolizing the uprising which broke out on July 6, 1938, and the inscription on the monument was penned by Comrade Li Yunchang, former deputy commander of the Jidong Anti-Japanese Allied Forces.
