Star Bay Beach is situated along the southeastern coast of Leting County, Tangshan City, about 25 kilometers from the county center. It is nestled between the mouth of Laomigou River and the Luanhe River estuary. The coastal strip stretches 5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide, with a total area of 5 square kilometers. The beach is 50–100 meters wide, making it one of the first seaside bathing areas opened in Leting. The water at Star Bay Beach is crystal clear and clean, while the sand is soft, smooth, and gently sloping. Known for its “clean sand, clear water, gentle slope, and calm tides,” it is a rare and naturally high-quality seaside beach. This year, Leting Shoreline Tourism Service Co., Ltd. invested in building seaside-style wooden cabins, ocean-view restaurants, hot spring showers, and a tourist center, among other reception and service facilities. They also upgraded infrastructure such as access roads, parking lots, and RV bases, and added a variety of recreational activities including beach and water sports. The beach’s reception capacity has significantly improved. Star Bay Beach now greets visitors from all over with a brand-new look and top-notch services.

The optimal period for seawater swimming at Star Bay Beach lasts up to 80 days, making it a popular summer retreat for both domestic and international tourists, as well as an ideal destination for water sports and aquatic recreation. The beach features 80 uniquely designed wooden cabins, two specialty restaurants, barbecue stalls, and a beer garden food court—all set in an elegant environment with complete facilities—capable of accommodating and serving hundreds of guests simultaneously. The beach offers a rich variety of entertainment options, including beach motorcycles, surfing, jet skis, and parasailing. On either side of the beach are fishing boat docks, offering an abundance of seafood. To the north are fishponds and shrimp ponds, perfect for fishing; to the west lie expansive salt pans, providing sweeping views. Nearby, Laomigou River Bay attracts many birds, making it a great spot for birdwatching. Adjacent to the beach is the national-level Jianggezhuang Forest Farm, adding an ecological charm to Star Bay Beach. Seawater Bathing

Seawater bath therapy is a method that utilizes the physicochemical properties of seawater to exercise the body and prevent or treat illnesses. Due to strict contraindications associated with seawater bathing and potential risks during swimming—such as foot cuts, hand and foot cramps, and drowning—careful supervision is required during seawater therapy to ensure bathers achieve the intended health benefits.

Sunbathing

Sunbathing is a major highlight at Star Bay Beach. Infrared rays can penetrate the skin’s surface to reach deeper tissues, raising the temperature of the irradiated area, dilating blood vessels, increasing blood flow, and improving circulation. Prolonged and intense sun exposure can raise the body’s overall temperature. The visible light spectrum in sunlight primarily affects mood through visual perception and skin contact, lifting one’s spirits and promoting a sense of well-being. Ultraviolet rays, the most potent component of sunlight for the human body, enhance blood and lymph circulation and accelerate metabolic processes. They help convert ergosterol in the skin into vitamin D, regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism to support healthy bone development. Substantial UV exposure can cause skin redness, break down skin cell proteins, release histamine-like substances into the bloodstream, stimulate the hematopoietic system, and increase the production of red and white blood cells as well as platelets, while also boosting the activity of phagocytes.

Sea Fishing

When fishing by the sea at Star Bay Beach, choose a bright and pleasant day, and be sure to avoid foggy weather or oppressive seasons. Also consider cloud cover—fishing is poor on gloomy, muggy days before rain or during drizzly, stuffy weather, but better on sunny days or during refreshing light rain. Next, consider wind direction: no wind makes fishing difficult. Calm seas with crystal-clear shallows are generally not ideal. Excessively strong winds are also unfavorable—when winds exceed force 6 (typically northerly in this area), crashing waves stir up sediment and debris from the seabed, driving fish to deeper waters. The ideal wind is a moderate force 3–4 headwind. Finally, consider temperature: throughout the year, seawater temperatures are too low in winter and spring, making shallow-sea fishing generally unproductive. In summer, although the sun heats the water, only schools of small fish linger near the shore, with larger fish rarely venturing close. Thus, summer is not ideal for shallow-sea fishing. The best time for shallow-sea angling is autumn, particularly during the months of August, September, and October. Within a day, early morning and evening tend to be the most productive times.
