Tangshan Chaoyin Temple

Tangshan Chaoyin Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Located in the center of Putuo Island, Chaoyin Temple was built by the late Qing Dynasty monk Faben. The temple complex consists of three levels of Buddhist halls. The front hall, with three rooms, is called the "Vajra Hall," featuring upturned eaves, arched walls, and resplendent golden decorations. The second level houses the "Heavenly King Hall," also with three rooms, situated in the center. It has a unique design, resembling a pavilion, and is also known as the "Corner-Turning Temple." Inside, the Heavenly Kings are enshrined in the central positions, flanked by the Eighteen Arhats, each with distinct postures, exquisitely colored and lifelike. The third level is the rear hall with five bays, with the main gate positioned at the center. Upon entering, the interior of the hall is adorned with painted carvings, ornate beams, and vibrant decorations that shine brilliantly. The surrounding walls are carved with a thousand Arhats, each in diverse poses and unique styles. On either side of the rear hall are eight monk rooms each, six side halls on the east and west, along with scripture halls, guest rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and all necessary facilities.

Visiting this place is a journey through history and nature. With a serene, flowing mindset, you can quietly admire this temple built over a hundred years ago, trying to draw inspiration and strength from history and nature. In this way, people, history, and nature organically blend together.
