Phoenix Square is located in the Xun Palace area at the southeastern corner of downtown Ezhou City, Hubei Province, nestled by the picturesque Yanglan Lake. The towering building stands prominently, and inside the grand entrance accessed by ascending steps, armed police officers with rifles and busy staff members move about in an orderly fashion. A tall flagpole stands with the five-starred red flag fluttering in the wind, creating a solemn and majestic atmosphere.

Overlooking the square, a dragon lies curled on the left and a phoenix rests on the right. The green dragon winds its way through, while the yellow dragon coils in repose. Lush greenery and vibrant blooms abound. In the front, an artificial musical fountain is surrounded by a semi-circular artificial pool that connects to Yanglan Lake, blending water and sky into one. Distant mountains appear ink-painted, clouds drift above the misty waters, pavilions and towers dot the landscape, and visitors weave through like colorful threads—truly a beautiful scene where human culture and nature blend harmoniously into a unified whole. It fills the heart with joy and stirs the imagination.

Phoenix Square, situated outside the moat of the ancient eastern gate of Ezhou City, covers an area of 120,000 square meters, making it the largest urban leisure and recreation square in Hubei Province to date.

At the center of the square stands a striking landmark—the city symbol of Ezhou: the Golden Phoenix Soaring. The main structure features a dazzling golden phoenix poised in a magnificent upward flight atop a radiant rising sun. Ezhou is the homeland of the Chu people, who revered the phoenix, regarding it as a divine bird embodying supremacy, benevolence, and ultimate beauty, often using the phoenix as their totem.

Ezhou’s ancient city adopts the Golden Phoenix Soaring as its city emblem, vividly reflecting the historical roots of the Chu ancestors’ reverence for the phoenix and fire, while also highlighting the spirited and ambitious ethos of the city’s modern residents as they strive and soar.

With the ancient city walls, ancient gate towers, and historic moat serving as its grand backdrop, Phoenix Square is thematically dedicated to showcasing Chu culture. Designed with ingenuity and built in harmony with the natural terrain, the square features a distinctive layout where green landscaping areas and paved sections are thoughtfully interspersed. Its grand scale and unique character add yet another fresh and beautiful attraction to the ancient city of Ezhou.
