The Four-Eyed Well in Ezhou is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Four-Eyed Well

Located on Gulou Street, Gulou Subdistrict Office, Echeng District, Ezhou City. During the Jiading era of the Southern Song Dynasty, the county magistrate Ying Bo cast an iron cover with four holes and placed it over the well, hence the name. The well has a circular mouth, with an outer diameter of about 2.3 meters and a depth of 10 meters. A cross-shaped support beam made of stone slabs is installed at the mouth of the well. Above it lies an iron cover with four holes, measuring 2.75 meters in diameter and 0.06 meters in thickness, with the four holes symmetrically distributed, each 0.54 meters in diameter. This well features a unique structural design and serves as an important physical artifact for the study of wells from the Song Dynasty. (Fifth Batch)

Protected Area: Extending outward from the surrounding well platform, 5 meters to the east and south respectively.

Construction Control Zone: Extending outward from the protected area, west to the centerline of Gulou Street, north to the centerline of Cross Street, and east and south to the exterior wall of the Five-Story Building.
