Fan Kou Hydraulic Hub

The Fan Kou Hydraulic Hub is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Fan Kou Hydraulic Hub

Located in Dazha Community, Fan Kou Street, Echeng District, Ezhou City, it includes hydraulic facilities such as the Minxin Sluice, Fan Kou Sluice, and Fan Kou Pumping Station, and was first built in 1924. The Minxin Sluice was constructed in 1924 under the direction of Wu Zhaolin, the former interim commander-in-chief of the Wuchang Uprising during the Xinhai Revolution, and completed in 1926. It has three culverts and drains an area of over 3,000 square kilometers. The Fan Kou Sluice began construction in July 1971 and was completed in October 1972. It includes a drainage sluice, ship lock, river discharge sluice, and a highway bridge in front of the sluice. The Fan Kou Pumping Station is situated between the Minxin Sluice and the Fan Kou Sluice. Construction started in July 1977 and was completed in June 1980. It consists of internal and external drainage channels, a main pump house, auxiliary buildings, installation bays, a highway bridge, trash racks, a flood control dike, and the Xuejiagou Sluice. In 1984, it won the National Quality Project Award and the National Gold Award for Excellent Design. Before 1987, it was the largest pumping station in the province in terms of scale and the largest in the country in terms of single-unit capacity. The Fan Kou Hydraulic Hub is a large-scale, key water control project integrating comprehensive benefits such as flood control, irrigation, and navigation, and holds significant historical and technological value.

(1) Minxin Sluice.

(2) Fan Kou Sluice.

Protected Area: East to 30°24′58.11″N, 114°50′47.63″E; West to 30°24′55.67″N, 114°50′38.56″E; South to 30°24′52.58″N, 114°50′42.47″E; North to 30°24′00.75″N, 114°50′43.24″E.

Construction Control Zone: Extending outward from the protected area, East to 30°24′57.63″N, 114°50′49.17″E; West to 30°24′55.84″N, 114°50′37.25″E; South to 30°24′52.02″N, 114°50′42.36″E; North to 30°25′01.47″N, 114°50′42.70″E.

(3) Fan Kou Pumping Station.

Protected Area: East to 30°25′04.32″N, 114°50′38.18″E; West to 30°25′02.80″N, 114°50′30.35″E; South to 30°25′00.28″N, 114°50′35.44″E; North to 30°25′06.75″N, 114°50′33.19″E.

Construction Control Zone: Extending outward from the protected area, East to 30°25′04.90″N, 114°50′39.42″E; West to 30°25′02.51″N, 114°50′29.45″E; South to 30°24′59.24″N, 114°50′39.42″E; North to 30°25′08.00″N, 114°50′32.75″E.
