Tangshan Phoenix Mountain Park

Located in the downtown area of Tangshan City, Phoenix Mountain Park covers an area of 179,500 square meters. It is the earliest-established and most fully equipped park in Tangshan, featuring beautiful landscapes, exquisite pavilions, and refined structures.

At the park’s entrance stands a 7-meter-tall white phoenix sculpture, the park’s iconic symbol. Upon entering the main plaza, you’ll find a central children’s water play fountain. Beyond the fountain, walking north along the pathway, you’ll be greeted by a succession of sights: the clear waters of Cheng Lake, winding corridors, ornamental railings, and small bridges. The path eventually leads to the park’s north gate. The main peak of the park stands at an elevation of 88 meters, with a graceful and lofty presence covered in dense pine and cypress trees. Atop the peak still stands the elegant and classic octagonal double-eaved Phoenix Pavilion, which survived the earthquake. From the second-floor platform, you can enjoy a panoramic view of new Tangshan. There is also an Iron Buddha Cave on the mountain’s summit. The southern part of the park houses an amusement area that tests your courage and nerve. Major rides include “White-water Adventure,” “Hurricane,” and “Hang Glider.” There are also thrilling options like the “Crazy Mouse” roller coaster and self-operated “Bumper Cars.” The park also features long-standing favorites such as “Remote-Controlled Aircraft,” “Kids’ Playground,” “Water Train,” and “Pedal Boats.”

On August 30, 2005, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a bronze statue of anti-Japanese hero Jie Zhenguo was unveiled in Phoenix Mountain Park. Jie Zhenguo is depicted wearing an Eighth Route Army cap and holding a pistol, looking heroic and spirited. The statue was designed and crafted by Professor Sui Jianguo, head of the Sculpture Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The entire statue stands 2.5 meters tall with a 1.2-meter base, both made entirely of bronze. The base of the statue is inscribed with a biography of Jie Zhenguo.
