Tangshan Botanical Garden

Tangshan Botanical Garden is located in the southern part of the city center, adjacent to the South Lake Eco-City, bordered by Tangxu Road to the south and construction South Road to the east on the south side of South Lake Park. It covers a total area of 55.45 hectares (832 mu). With the design concept of "Rebirth from the Fire, the Phoenix Rises over South Lake," the garden interprets a rising, cultural, ecological, and livable Tangshan.

While integrating the existing terrain, Tangshan Botanical Garden constructs a landscape pattern of “mountain and water representing Tangshan”: the mountain symbolizes the character of Tangshan, while the water represents the Bohai Sea, embodying the resilient and tenacious spirit of the people of Tangshan and the pioneering, profound character of the Bohai Sea. These concepts serve as the guiding principles radiating throughout the garden, highlighting its regional characteristics. It is a new, interactive botanical garden integrating six major functions: sightseeing, science education, ecology, economy, culture, and research. According to the plan, it will be developed into the premier botanical garden in North China and an international garden with distinct local features, cultural heritage, and reflections of industrial civilization. The design includes 154 families, 457 genera, and over 500 species of land-cultivated plants, as well as 14 categories and 120 species of greenhouse plants. Based on the specifics of construction, implementation will be carried out in phases, with an initial planting of over 300 species of land plants.

As the premier botanical garden in North China that prioritizes sightseeing with supplementary science education, Tangshan Botanical Garden strives to allow visitors to experience nature through the language of flowers. Therefore, the main plant community landscapes are the focal points of the entire garden. Fully exploring the texture, charm, layers, colors, seasonal changes, and cultural elements of plant landscapes that resonate emotionally with people is key to constructing these landscapes. The distinctive seasonal scenery of Tangshan Botanical Garden showcases different landscape features across seasons, not only forming unique visual highlights but also maximizing the garden’s interactive and public-friendly functions. This allows visitors to find their own space in the garden in every season, to connect with nature and reflect on life.
