Qian'an Museum

Located on the eastern section of Gangcheng Road in the Hedong District of Qian'an City, Hebei Province, Qian'an Museum was newly constructed at a new site and prepared for opening in early 2005 on the foundation of the former museum. The museum covers an area of 45,000 square meters, with a building area of 10,658 square meters. It is a modern structure with a round top and a square base, embodying the traditional Eastern cultural concept of the round heaven and square earth. The three-story building houses 10 exhibition halls and two multi-functional halls. The basic exhibition halls include the Paleoloxodon Exhibition Hall, Historical Relics Exhibition Hall, Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall, Folk Culture Exhibition Hall, Art & Culture Exhibition Hall, Qian'an Development Exhibition Hall, Temporary Exhibition Hall, Leading Industries Exhibition Hall, Multi-functional Hall, and Urban Planning Hall. It is a modern comprehensive museum built under the guidance of the Qian'an Municipal Committee and the People's Government of Qian'an City, with the core principle of “promoting internal spirit and shaping external image.”

Qian'an Museum currently houses a collection of over 1,000 cultural relics, spanning more than ten categories including bone artifacts, stone tools, stone carvings, bronzes, ironware, pottery, currency, paintings, calligraphy, and modern-era relics. Among them are 2 national first-grade relics, 7 second-grade relics, and 51 third-grade relics. The collection features both the exquisitely precious bone needles and awls, the solemn and majestic Shang Dynasty bronze tripod with inscriptions, the elegant white-glazed printed cups and plates from the Liao Dynasty, and the fresh and graceful Jun porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty—each item is stunningly crafted and truly marvelous. The time span ranges from the Paleolithic Age to the Republican Era, making it a highly captivating treasure trove of Qian'an’s history and culture. The museum’s permanent exhibitions include two main displays: the "Ancient Elephant Fossil Exhibition" and the "Qian'an Historical Relics Exhibition." The "Ancient Elephant Fossil Exhibition" hall spans 150 square meters, showcasing fossils of the 12,000-year-old Palaeoloxodon unearthed in 1992 in Yangjiapo, Pengdianzi Township, Qian'an City, along with other paleontological fossils found within the Qian'an region. The Palaeoloxodon fossil stands 3.85 meters tall and measures 7.5 meters in length, making it one of the three most well-preserved Palaeoloxodon fossils in China. It holds significant scientific value for studying ancient geographical and climatic changes.

The museum presents an ancient Qian'an, a revolutionary Qian'an, a harmonious Qian'an, and an outstanding Qian'an.
