Cheng Zhaocai Pingju Inheritance Base

The Cheng Zhaocai Pingju Inheritance Base is a public cultural service enhancement project built as part of the construction of the Shengezhuang Village Community Center and Fitness Square. It serves as a key infrastructure for the Pingju Culture for the People Special Action promoted by Bazhigang Town in Luannan County, and is also part of the protection and development project for traditional cultural resources in Hebei Province. The construction includes: a Pingju rehearsal hall, cultural square, Cheng Zhaocai’s Tomb, Memorial Hall, statue, ancient theater building, inheritance center, and other ecological gardens and architectural structures.

The project has an estimated total investment of 14.6 million yuan. It is located south of Shengezhuang Village, covering an area of 200 mu. The project adopts a financing approach combining government funding and self-raised capital. The planned construction period is from 2012 to 2014. In 2012 and 2013, a total of 4.6 million yuan was invested consecutively, and the main structures such as the Pingju rehearsal hall and cultural square have been completed and put into use. In 2014, an investment of 10 million yuan is planned. Of this, 2 million yuan has been self-raised, leaving a funding gap of 8 million yuan.

As the hometown of Pingju, Bazhigang Town now has as many as 16 local Pingju groups and over 500 enthusiasts. Among them, the Shengezhuang Cheng Zhaocai Hometown Pingju Troupe in Luannan County has registered as an independent legal entity and has attracted significant attention and support from the industry. Renowned Pingju performer and Plum Blossom Award winner Luo Huiqin has provided guidance to the troupe on multiple occasions and serves as its honorary director.

This project is a public cultural service enhancement initiative aimed at the protection and development of traditional culture in Hebei. Once completed, it will meet the daily leisure, entertainment, and fitness needs of local farmers and enterprise employees in the village and surrounding areas. The inheritance center will focus on training Pingju enthusiasts, organizing various amateur activities and competitions, while also providing a venue for hosting distinctive cultural brand festivals and exhibitions. It is set to become a landmark building in the hometown of Pingju.
