Ancient Luanhe River Ecological Park

Ancient Luanhe River Ecological Park is located in the northeastern part of Leting County, on the north side of the Luanhe River Dam. It serves as an intermediate node of the Ancient Luanhe River Ecological Water System. Designed primarily by the School of Landscape Architecture at Nanjing Forestry University, the park covers a planned area of 3,000 mu, with a total investment of 120 million yuan. The park is positioned with the planning theme of “water system purification, ecological display, site preservation, and memory revival,” integrating classic landscapes, wetland experiences, science education, health and wellness, and leisure tourism. It features three main projects: Zhishan Hill, Lehu Lake, and garden green spaces. To enrich the park’s landscape, projects such as ecological breeding and CS shooting entertainment have been planned. Moving forward, the park will leverage the cultural resource advantages of the hometown of Li Dazhao, and in conjunction with the development of a AAAAA-level tourist attraction, plans to implement red culture-themed tourism projects.

Construction of the park began in March 2009. By organizing public voluntary tree planting, more than 160,000 trees and shrubs including ash, scholar trees, lilacs, and forsythias were planted in accordance with biodiversity and pristine ecological requirements. Zhishan Hill, standing 50 meters high, stretches 290 meters from east to west and 140 meters from north to south. It was built using construction waste from old city redevelopment, fully embodying the concept of a conservation-oriented garden, and marking the end of Leting’s history without a hill. Today, visitors can climb the hill and enjoy a panoramic view of Leting’s new urban area to the south. Lehu Lake is located to the north of Zhishan Hill and was formed by excavating the ancient course of the Luanhe River. The lake covers a water area of 220,000 square meters with an average depth of 5.5 meters. A new technology using waterproof mats was applied to the lake bottom to ensure the ecological environment of the water body. The lake includes five major landscape and leisure ecological functional areas: the cruise boat docking zone, the boardwalk listening-to-waves zone, the hundred-lotus elegance zone, the fishing and waterside zone, and the pastoral charm zone.

Ancient Luanhe River Ecological Park is a masterpiece of urban construction in Leting County. In addition to increasing the green space within the urban area, the park plays a significant role in conserving water sources, maintaining soil and water, preventing wind and fixing sand, regulating runoff, purifying the air, and reducing and preventing pollution. It has greatly improved the urban air quality and optimized the ecological environment around the urban area. The park has become a key venue for showcasing the unique regional culture of the hometown of Li Dazhao and an excellent leisure and recreational destination for local residents.
