Taiyi Cave

Taiyi Cave is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Taiyi Cave Scenic Area is located 5 kilometers south of the Wenquan urban area. Legend has it that it was excavated by the Taoist deity Taiyi Zhenren to control floods and benefit the people. According to geological experts, it was formed about 3.6 million years ago, and the cave’s name was inscribed by the renowned Chinese calligrapher Zhao Puchu.

Taiyi Cave is characterized mainly by its “elegance, wonder, and refinement.” The main cave runs from north to south, naturally connecting through to the back, with a total length of over 2,200 meters. Five branch caves extend southeastward, spanning about 1,800 meters. The cave features both expansive, rugged halls and winding, secluded alleys. Its highest point reaches about 20 meters, and the widest part is over 30 meters. Inside the cave, stalactites hang upside down and stalagmites stand densely, with one chamber leading to another, resembling a fairyland on earth. Taiyi Cave boasts over 100 scenic spots, including 48 remarkable natural formations — such as the vivid statue of Taiyi God, the echoing Heavenly Gifted Drum, the parrot watching the tides from its islet, the majestic Great Stone Waterfall, the towering Pearl Tower, the Gathering of Immortals, the Resting Sacred Ox, and the lifelike Reclining Dragon Pool... It's like a natural museum that leaves visitors in awe. The newly developed Dragon Palace branch cave features winding paths, unexpected turns, beautiful fossilized snakes, dinosaur nests, astonishing rock formations, a “sky-splitting” crevice, and the Frog Accompanying the Dragon — all uniquely spectacular.

On the right side of the cave entrance lies a fragrant osmanthus garden and the rippling waters of Taiyi Lake, together forming a picturesque scene of clear mountains, beautiful water, a marvelous cave, and fragrant flowers. Exiting the cave, you’ll find the serene and picturesque Taiyi Temple, radiating an otherworldly charm.
