A sheet of blue water ripples gently in the breeze, with shimmering light dancing across Xinghai Lake’s embrace. The blue sky mirrors the azure lake, while green trees frame red blossoms—like a paradise on earth. Xinghai Lake, also known as the Daheditan Reservoir, is located 30 kilometers downstream from the main dam of Panjiakou. It primarily serves to regulate the water flow from the Panjiakou Reservoir. The lake spans 30 square kilometers, with a total storage capacity of 337 million cubic meters. The reservoir area boasts not only stunning natural scenery but also impressive hydraulic engineering that showcases modern human achievement—the 1,349-meter-long, 52-meter-high dam; the grand-scale H-shaped Luan River water diversion sluice; and the magnificent memorial sculpture of the Luanhe River Diversion Project. This is the starting point of the Luanhe-to-Tianjin and Luanhe-to-Tangshan water diversion projects. The reservoir area offers a wide range of recreational activities: take a sightseeing boat to admire the lake and mountain views, ride a motorboat or speedboat across the waves, or drift between sky and water in a pedal boat. The fishing area promises a bountiful catch, while the leisure zone lets you immerse yourself in nature’s pleasures.
