The Enshi Qingjiang Butterfly Cliff Scenic Tourism Area is situated between the world-famous Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and Zhangjiajie. It extends 87 kilometers from Shuibuya in Badong County in the east to Fenhe River in Enshi City in the west, representing the most stunning, profound, and ecologically untouched stretch of the Qingjiang River. The scenic zone features breathtaking mountain and water views, idyllic canyon scenery, along with traditional stilted houses and Tujia farmlands nestled between emerald hills and clear waters. Legend has it that the county where the scenic area is located was originally named Shixian (“County of Grant”), but was later renamed “Enshi” (“Grace Bestowed”) by Emperor Yongzheng as a special honor. The region enjoys a mild climate, warm winters and cool summers, balanced weather patterns, and is both safe and comfortable, making it a suitable destination for travelers of all ages.
