Guanyin Island in Jingmen

Guanyin Island is located among the cluster of islands in the middle of the Zhanghe Reservoir and is also the core scenic area of the entire Zhanghe Scenic Zone. The island is lush with woods and fragrant flowers, surrounded by water on all sides. Being there feels like being in a celestial realm, making it a paradise for leisure and summer retreat.

Legend has it that the island was originally a huge rock, oddly shaped and barren, until one day the Goddess Guanyin took a rest here. As she unfurled her fly whisk, her sacred sweat dripped onto the rock, and soon trees grew and flowers blossomed in vibrant colors. Ever since, people have called this place Guanyin Island.

In the center of Guanyin Island stands an 18-meter-tall Double-Sided Dripping-Water Guanyin statue, gleaming golden and solemnly majestic. Surrounding it are 33 vividly crafted manifestations of the Goddess. These figures are depicted either standing or lying down, some riding their sacred mounts, others seated upon lotus thrones, all with kind expressions and gentle smiles. Walking among them makes you feel as if you've entered a heavenly realm.
