August Arrival: Chiayi's New Landmark – The KANO Observation Sphere

The “KANO Baseball Park,” located next to Chiayi City Baseball Stadium, will officially open on August 6. One of its major highlights is the massive KANO observation sphere, made of aluminum alloy, with a diameter of five meters, weighing four metric tons, and costing NT$4.4 million. Paired with a nighttime light show, it enhances Chiayi’s evening scenery and is expected to become a new popular photo spot.

The KANO Baseball Park is situated on the west side of the baseball stadium, covering an area of 4,190 pyeong. The KANO observation sphere is positioned in front of Exit 6 of the baseball stadium and is formed by five interlocking rings of different sizes. With its transparent ring silhouette and spatial design, the sphere’s nighttime lighting — featuring seven colors that shift through 33 dynamic modes based on speed — creates a rich visual experience. After the park opens, the sphere’s lighting will be on display from 7–9 p.m. nightly, with adjustments made depending on crowd levels.

The KANO Baseball Park also features a baseball-themed promenade, a Baseball Hall of Fame wall, an outdoor grassy music theater, a baseball sculpture area, a baseball painting treasure hunt zone, and a vendor area. Part of the interior space of the baseball stadium has been renovated into a multimedia baseball history museum, along with a baseball-themed shop and a café offering light meals.

This year’s KANO Season Tourism Carnival will take place from August 6 to 12. The KANO Baseball Park will also open on the same day as the carnival kicks off. Fans of the movie *KANO* and baseball enthusiasts, mark your calendars for this pilgrimage destination!
