Niangzi Cave Scenic Area

Niangzi Cave is located in the northeast corner of Lixi, 11 kilometers from the town, facing Xianren Rock across a valley.

In front of the cave is a stone tablet engraved with the words "Niangzi Cave." The cave isn’t deep, but it has a special spiritual aura, with incense burning continuously throughout the year. All devout worshippers who visit come to pay their respects. Across a hundred-mile area, it is well known that this cave has a beautiful legend: the cave’s owner is a lady, said to have been sent to the human world by Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, to do good deeds. As for when she arrived here, no one knows for sure, but it has been passed down through generations that whenever the bridge here was broken, she would repair it overnight; when the paths were impassable and mountain folk had difficulty traveling, she would promptly clear a way; and if any family lacked bowls or chopsticks for weddings, funerals, or other events, she would willingly lend them... Until one time, a mischievous young man tried to flirt with the Lady while borrowing bowls, and she disappeared into the cave, never to be seen again. But she left behind a message: "Those with kind and pure hearts, if you are in trouble, you may still come to me." As a result, to this day, worshippers and those seeking help continue to come in great numbers.
