Houzhuangwang Site

The Houzhuangwang Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Neolithic Age

Located northeast of Houzhuangwang Village, Shuangqiao Subdistrict, High-Tech Development Zone, approximately 20 kilometers northwest of Zhengzhou City. The site covers an area of about 50,000 square meters. In February 1952, the Cultural Relics Work Team of the Henan Provincial Department of Culture conducted partial archaeological excavations in the southern part of the site, with two digs totaling over 6,000 square meters.

Excavated artifacts include pottery, stone, bone, horn, and shell tools. The pottery mainly consists of clay red ware, sand-tempered brown ware, and clay gray ware, along with a small number of white-painted pottery and painted pottery fragments in red and black. Artifact types include tripods, jars, basins, bean pots, and small-mouthed pointed-bottom bottles, as well as cauldrons. This site is an important primitive settlement from the middle to late Yangshao Culture period.

In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
