Sunpo Site

The Sunpo Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The Sunpo Site is situated in the low mountainous and hilly region of western Zhengzhou, in the extension of the northern foothills of Mount Song. The terrain slopes from east to west, and the site area is relatively flat. A cultural layer has been found in the northern cliff section, consisting of light gray, loose soil containing artifacts such as pottery fragments. The pottery includes both clay pottery and sandy-clay pottery, with clay pottery being the main type; the pottery colors include gray pottery, red pottery, and black-glazed eggshell pottery; the decorative patterns feature cord marks, basket weave patterns, grid patterns, string patterns, and plain surfaces; identifiable vessel shapes include pottery jars, basins, urns, and ding vessels.
