Tianhe Grand Canyon Scenic Area (Daohuigou)

Tianhe Grand Canyon Scenic Area (Daohuigou) is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Daohuigou is located in the southeastern part of Jiaohexiang, 40 kilometers west of Luanchuan County, and 6.5 kilometers from Jiaohestreet. This scenic area is the second nature reserve in Luoyang City situated in the Yangtze River basin. The “Jingxiu Garden’s Jingxiufeng Peak” is hailed as the “classic boundary between the Yangtze and Yellow River basins.” Its viewing area spans 20 square kilometers. Legend has it that during the late Western Han Dynasty, when Wang Mang was pursuing Liu Xiu, they passed through this area during a heavy snowfall in the depths of winter. Liu Xiu put his boots on backward to enter the valley, creating the illusion that he had exited, thereby escaping Wang Mang’s pursuit. The valley thus got its name. The valley features majestic mountains, peculiar peaks, well-preserved vegetation, towering ancient trees, crystal-clear streams, a pond every li, a waterfall every three li, fish swimming near the surface, birds singing in the mountains, and a wide variety of rare flowers and plants. Notable rock formations in the valley include the Dragon Scale Welcoming Stone, Divine Ox Listening to the Waves Stone, Immortal Sage Meditation Stone, Graceful Camel Gazing at the Sea Stone, Otter Offering Cave Stone, Spirit Turtle Carrying Scriptures Stone, Eunuch Black Gauze Hat Stone, Stone Frog, Stone Dolphin, Stone Shark, Stone Elephant, and Jade Maiden’s Hip Stone—all remarkably lifelike. In Liuhe Valley, there are thousands of ancient willows “lining the banks and dipping into the water,” ancient vines, welcoming pines, azaleas, and millennia-old trees exuding natural charm. In Xiulin Garden, you can find Dao huifeipu Waterfall, Shicao Waterfall, Seven-Tiered Flying Sky Waterfall, Niangniang Mountain, and more. In 2000, the Jiaohexiang government decided to develop the Daohuigou Scenic Area. Over three years, 3 million yuan was invested to build a mountain gate, construct over 3,000 stone steps along Niujiufeng Valley, open a road from Jiaohestreet to the Daohuigou Scenic Area, and establish four scenic zones.

Peak Season (March 1 – October 30): 7:00–18:00; Off-Peak Season (October 31 – February 28 of the following year): 8:00–17:00.

① Children under 1.3 meters tall are admitted free of charge; those over 1.3 meters pay the full fare.

② Seniors aged 70 and above are admitted free; those aged 60–70 pay 15 yuan per person.

③ Students may purchase discounted tickets (15 yuan) with valid ID.

④ Military personnel are admitted free with valid personal identification.
