Ishikawa Prefecture Tourism & Product Exhibition: Kaga Yuzen & Wajima Lacquerware Come to Taiwan

From now until November 19, the government of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, in collaboration with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi New World A11, will host the “Ishikawa Prefecture Tourism & Product Exhibition.” In addition to Ishikawa’s local cuisine and time-honored traditional crafts, the 6F Cultural Hall will feature special performances by traditional artists showcasing drumming, fue (Japanese flute), and Japanese dance — all unique to Ishikawa Prefecture — offering those who haven’t visited yet a glimpse of the area’s cultural performing arts.

The “Ishikawa Prefecture Tourism & Product Exhibition” is being held at the 6F Cultural Hall of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi New World A11. The food section includes wagashi (Japanese sweets), seafood products, locally grown Ishikawa rice, fine sake brewed using the prefecture’s pristine water and premium rice, as well as other Ishikawa delicacies. Known as the kingdom of crafts, Ishikawa also brings traditional artisan products that are not to be missed, including its world-famous gold leaf products (99% of Japan’s gold leaf is produced in Ishikawa), as well as works combining tradition and modern craftsmanship such as Kaga Yuzen and Wajima lacquerware. There will also be craft demonstration and hands-on experience areas where visitors can admire the artisans’ skills and even try their hand at making gold leaf.

The tourism section will introduce not only Michelin three-star attraction Kenroku-en Garden, the hot spring-selected Kagaya Ryokan, and the historic Tohcha Yokocho shopping street, but also new sightseeing spots and information on discounted travel packages.
