Enoshima Aquarium (Miura City)
Japan’s rare aquarium where you can get up close with penguins; special recommendation for an adorable otter handshake experience (contact and feeding experiences are by reservation and require payment). It offers both fun sightseeing and educational value, making it perfect for parents who don’t want their children to just walk and look around. Its childcare facilities are also very complete, ensuring that both parents and children can enjoy themselves with peace of mind.

Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia (Yokohama City)
Japan’s largest urban zoo, built with the concept of “Welcome to a Round-the-World Animal Journey,” featuring rare animal species and a diverse mix of biodiverse environments. The “African Savanna” exhibition area, which opened in 2015, recreates the scenery of the African plains where herbivores and carnivores coexist in the same space—a uniquely themed exhibit you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
