Heshan Taishan Temple is a protected cultural heritage site of Henan Province.

Heshan Taishan Temple is located within the campus of a primary school in Heshan Village, Heshan Township, Xinxiang County, Henan Province. The exact date of the temple’s establishment is unknown. Only two structures remain from the original Taishan Temple complex: a theater stage and the Jade Emperor Hall. The theater stage was renovated in the 29th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1903). It faces west (with the stage opening to the east), and is built from brick and wood. It has both upper and lower levels — the upper level serves as the performance stage, while the lower level functions as the entrance passage to the Taishan Temple. The central bay features a door opening that also serves as the main gate to the temple. Above the door is a stone plaque inscribed with the characters “Taishan Temple,” carved from bluestone. The theater stage is 7.6 meters tall overall, with a five-bay width and a single-bay depth. It has a gable-and-hip roof covered with gray clay tiles. The stage floor is made of wood, and the steps are of blue bricks. The staircase is located on the right side. The side bays are each 2.4 meters wide and 4.54 meters deep, with gray clay tiles and a flush-gable roof, each having a circular window at the front.

The Jade Emperor Hall stands opposite the theater stage, also facing west. It is three bays wide (10.25 meters) and two bays deep (7.04 meters), with a total height of 6.9 meters. It has a flush-gable roof covered with gray cylindrical tiles and square stone plinths. The outer porch of the central bay features stone columns, while the rest are wooden. The roof beams are inscribed with the characters “The 22nd Year of the Guangxu Reign of the Great Qing.”

The discovery of this architectural complex holds significant reference value for the study of theatrical facilities and the development history of ancient architecture in Xinxiang County.
