Zhugudong Township is located at the junction of central and western China. It is under the jurisdiction of Yicheng District, Zhumadian City, situated in the southwestern part of the district, about 9 kilometers from downtown Zhumadian. The area features a landscape of western mountains and eastern plains. National Highway 107 (New) and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway run through the entire township, and the under-construction Yiyang Expressway has an interchange within the township. The location is strategically important and transportation is convenient. The area hosts various external units such as the state-owned Leshan Forest Farm, TV transmission station, radio broadcast tower, Yang Jingyu Memorial Hall, and Mazhuang Railway Station.
