Site of the Huai Temple Ruins

The Site of the Huai Temple Ruins is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Site of the Huai Temple Ruins is located in Huai Temple Village, Fucɑolou Township, approximately 22 kilometers southeast of Taikang County. In 2006, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Zhoukou City.

The site is an elevated area, measuring 152 meters from north to south and 146 meters from east to west, covering an area of about 22,200 square meters. The cultural layer in the eastern part is 1.5 meters thick, while those in the central and western parts are more than 9 meters thick.

The Luoyang Work Team of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, has conducted surveys at the Huai Temple Ruins. On the exposed cliff face in the western part of the site, over ten red-fired earthen dwelling surfaces and more than ten ash pits were discovered. A large number of pottery fragments were found on the ground surface, predominantly featuring cord-marked patterns, followed by grid-patterned designs. Stone tools, bone tools, and shell tools were also uncovered. Based on the characteristics of these artifacts, it has been determined that the Huai Temple Ruins primarily feature Longshan Culture, along with smaller elements of Dawenkou and Shang-Zhou cultures.
